Para n\u00f3s do Timoneiro ele era um grande incentivador, colaborador e distribuidor do jornal no bairro Rio Branco\u201d, declarou o diretor do jornal, Jorge Uequed. Para o l\u00edder da Terreira V\u00f3 Maria, Darci Silveira, \u201co Nelson era um exemplo de dignidade, dedica\u00e7\u00e3o, amor aos semelhantes e respeito \u00e0 f\u00e9 religiosa. Ele ajudou muito no desenvolvimento e na qualidade de vida de Canoas\u201d.
